Jeff Reine-Adelaide made a loan move to Ligue 1 side Angers on deadline day. After completing the transfer, he talked about the goals Arsene Wenger set for him and what he expects from the loan.

The primary thing Reine-Adelaide seemed to want to express after the move was his gratitude. He posted a picture in his new colours on Instagram saying, “thank you so much”.

RMC Sport then interviewed the Arsenal youngster, and you could tell there are no hard feelings between the player and Wenger for sending him out instead of putting him in the team.

“He (Wenger) asked me to work in Angers, listen well and come back stronger, more mature,” Jeff explained. “I know that many people think that I should not have gone to Arsenal so early, but I have no regrets.

“Arsene Wenger gave me opportunities with the first team, then I had injury problems. He then helped me a lot to come back. Here too, I want to say thank you.”

The 20-year-old then talked about what he needs to work on, whilst on loan. He said: “I need to improve my statistics. It’s important to be decisive…I also have to progress tactically, which is why Angers is a good club. There is a different style than that of Arsenal, it will allow me to develop at that level.”

It’s great the midfielder has a chance to play in a first team again, even if he doesn’t start every game. He hasn’t appeared in a senior game for Arsenal since February 2017, almost a full year ago now. Just being back in a senior squad and coming off the bench could help him a lot.

Angers should be a good fit for the youngster as well. They’re in Ligue 1, so he’ll have the chance to compete against the likes of Monaco and PSG. At the same time, they’re 16th, so they could use his help. Plus, a loan to his home country should help him fit in a bit more smoothly. Hopefully it all goes well.
