Alex Iwobi got a cameo in Nike’s new ‘Nothing beats a Londoner’ advert.

Even though Arsenal are sponsored by Puma, Nike are Iwobi’s boot sponsors, so it wasn’t that much of a surprise to see the 21-year-old feature in the sports brand’s new advert.

The advert celebrates everything ‘London’ and stars a number of stars from the area, including grime artists Giggs and Skepta, Harry Kane, Steph Houghton, Michael Dapaah a.k.a. Big Shaq – who actually pretends to be Iwobi’s pal in the advert – and Mo Farah.

The general premise is that nothing beats a Londoner, they have to travel further, and do more in harsher conditions than everyone else.

Obviously, everyone in it’s from London and it’s designed to demonstrate the diversity of the city.

Iwobi got the privilege of featuring in the mildly amusing clip where, as which I mentioned before, Big Shaq pretends to be his friend while he’s down his local barbers getting a fresh trim.

The 3:08 advert is actually pretty good. Skepta’s track ‘Shut Down’ intermittently plays through various mediums, which ties it all together nicely. Plus, seeing so many familiar faces, as well as unknown youngsters, shows Nike genuinely did put a bit of thought into it. And probably blew their entire budget for 2018.

After watching it three times, I’m still spotting people.

Fans seem to be loving it.
