Mathieu Debuchy managed to score on his debut for Saint-Etienne.

During Debuchy’s three-and-a-half years at Arsenal, the right-back only managed to score twice.

Well, it’s only taken him an hour to get off the mark for new club Saint-Etienne.

The 32-year-old played his first 90 minutes in Ligue 1 against Amiens on Saturday and helped his new side to a 2-0 victory after striking home a lovely goal in the 62nd minute.

Remy Cabella doubled the French side’s lead in the 85th.

Debuchy had two shots during the course of the game, completed 39/54 passes, won two defensive duels and four tackles.

All in all, a pretty decent start for the Frenchman.

“It’s not easy to find our automation, but tonight we did it right,” the defender told beIN Sports, reports L’Equipe. “I am sure of my qualities. I worked hard at Arsenal, even though I played little. It has paid off.”

In total, Debuchy only made 13 Premier League starts for Arsenal so you can understand why he was a little bit sick of hanging around.

It didn’t help that Hector Bellerin broke into the first team while Debuchy was injured and took his place for good.

Good luck to him – hopefully he can continue.
