Mohamed Elneny and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah engaged in a spot of light banter over Elneny’s Player of the Month nomination on Tuesday morning.

If you’ve been paying attention to Elneny since he joined Arsenal from Basel in 2016, you’ll know that 25-year-old loves a bit of banter.

First, there was the… unique… announcement of his newborn baby on Twitter, then there was the trolling of Alexis Sanchez over Chile not qualifying for the World Cup, and recently there was the rather obvious dig at the same guy after he left Arsenal for Manchester United.

The Egypt international also spilled the beans on Mesut Ozil’s new contract before he was meant to.

Therefore, you can imagine that when Salah tried to banter Elneny off™ on social media on Monday, Elneny was probably rubbing his hands together with glee.

This was his time to shine.

The Liverpool man jokingly accused Elneny of just trying to get fans to vote for him by retweeting that he had been nominated for Arsenal’s Player of the Month award.

“Just Tweet ‘vote for me’,” said Salah. “Stop beating around the bush. We’re Egyptians, we get what you’re after!”

The midfielder then replied “I haven’t seen your name among those that voted for me”, complete with cry-laughing emojis and a picture of a man holding a list.

Elneny may not be the most creative defensive midfielder but he loves the club and gives everything, which goes a long way in football these days.

Plus he makes us laugh.

You can vote for him to be Arsenal’s Player of the Month here.
