Vlad Dragomir received praise from his home country on Monday night after scoring in the Arsenal u23s 3-1 defeat to Leicester City.

Dragomir was one of the bright sparks in an otherwise disappointing performance on the night. Without Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and the u23s who went on loan in January, Arsenal struggled to perform.

They went 3-0 down in the first hour, before losing Tyreece John-Jules to a red card. In the final 10 minutes, Dragomir scored an impressive consolation goal, firing into the top corner, and that’s what the Romanian press chose to focus on.

DC News talked about the 18-year-old’s “great form” with the u23s, in an article focusing on his goal.

It’s not the first time the media in Dragomir’s home country have raved about the youngster. Back in November, when the midfielder scored a brace against West Ham, the Romanian media called the performance a “one man show”. They’ve also referred to him as Mesut Özil’s heir in the past.

You can understand why they’re so excited, considering the youngster’s quality.

He’s played for almost every Romanian youth team, from u15 to u21, and scored six goals in 12 u23 starts for Arsenal this season.

For Dragomir, the next step is earning a chance in the first-team.
