Alexandre Lacazette has been ruled out for up to five weeks after undergoing knee surgery and Arsenal fans aren’t exactly optimistic over having Danny Welbeck step back into the starting line-up against Östersunds FK.

Although most Arsenal fans generally like Welbeck as a human being, many aren’t too convinced that he’s the striker the team need to carry them through to the Europa League final.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cup-tied, we were confident Lacazette would play a big part in Arsenal’s remaining European matches this term.

Due to knee surgery, however, this doesn’t look like it’ll be the case and Gooners are experiencing little bit panic… Although, to be fair, as Arsenal fans we’re usually at around 6/10 on the panic-o-metre anyway.

While some fans are somewhat sarcastically backing Welbz to have a blinder and completely boss Östersunds FK in Sweden on Thursday, some are wondering whether Chelsea can just loan Arsenal back Olivier Giroud. You know, just for a little while.

This is precisely why we shouldn’t have sold the 31-year-old in January.

Knowing Aubameyang was cup-tied when we signed him and Lacazette was carrying an ongoing knee problem but still selling our other decent striker seemed like it was just asking for trouble.

Given that Lacazette is sidelined for up to five weeks, Arsenal could be out of the Europa League by the time he makes it back. He’ll also miss out on the League Cup final.
