Krystian Bielik is set to miss what would have been his first match with loan side Walsall this weekend through injury.

You can take the boy out of Arsenal but you can’t take the Arsenal out of the boy, eh?

Bielik has already picked up a ‘slight niggle’ after moving to League One side Walsall on transfer deadline day.

As a result, manager Jon Whitney has decided not to risk the 20-year-old for the Saddlers’ six-pointer against MK Dons on Saturday.

“We have to take time – you look at how many games they’ve played,” said Whitney, reports Express & Star.

“I know that Krystian has got a slight niggle, we knew that.

“Whether he is right for the weekend, I’m unsure. But I’m not going to risk him as we need him for the remainder of the season. I’ll speak to them all individually and we’ll see.

“Some may start, some may not. Some may be on the bench, some may not be.

“It’s going to be an interesting one but I’m sure the team we put out will be a strong team.”

Walsall are currently in 18th place in League One with MK Dons just three points below them in 21st. Therefore, a win for the Dons would be massive and I’m sure the clash will be intense, so perhaps best Bielik isn’t risked.

Bielik went out on loan to Birmingham City last year and made 10 Championship appearances.

The centre-back will be hoping to shake off this ‘slight niggle’ in order to make the most of his half-season in the Midlands. Especially seeing as he’s only made four Premier League 2 appearances this term.

If this ‘slight niggle’ turns into something more, it will be a massive blow for the Polish defender.

Bielik only returned from almost six months on the sidelines recently.

The 20-year-old injured his shoulder in an u23 match against Manchester City at the start of the season. It required surgery and prevented him from going out on loan during the first half of the campaign.

He’s also not the only Arsenal loanee to suffer an injury shortly after moving on loan in January. Ben Sheaf injured his bum in one of his first training sessions.
