On Monday, Arsenal took 50 girls from their Development Programmes for a day out at St. George’s Park – the home of the Lionesses.
While at St. George’s, the Arsenal girls got the chance to experience what it would be like to player for England Women’s football team.
The Young Guns got to see around the football centre where the Lionesses train ahead of an international clash and explore the facilities.

After lunch, they got to meet the England Women themselves, which would have been an honour for the budding female footballers.

They also got to hold the Women’s FA Cup ahead of the semi-final on April 15, which will be televised on the BBC, as well as the final on 5 May.

The whole day wouldn’t have just been a fun trip for the Arsenal Development Programme members, it’ll be part of the initiative the FA, with the support of clubs like Arsenal, are running in order to try and get more young girls and women interested in football.

The fact that these girls taken on the tour are already playing football suggests they’re interested in carrying it on as they get older but meeting the stars, experiencing the facilities and seeing everything first hand will have been really exciting for them. And I imagine given them a bit of a boost.
It’s something tangible and real, not just something they read about or see the odd picture of online.
Hopefully they all had a great day and the trip inspired them to continue pushing for what they want.
