Arsenal could be willing to sell Rob Holding to Burnley in the summer, according to the S*n.

Holding has been unable to hold down a first team spot this season and could be allowed to leave in the summer.

According to the S*n, Arsenal want £15m for the 22-year-old, who is being linked with Burnley.

Burnley’s interest appears to be a legacy of the January transfer window, when they were keen to take the defender on loan.

Arsenal’s willingness to sell may be down to their desire to sign another defender.

Arsene Wenger spoke of his regret of not being able to sign one during last month’s transfer window.

Should Arsenal make signing a defender a priority in the summer, they would surely have to let one or two leave.

Holding has made 18 appearances for the club this season, but 10 of those came in the Europa League and Carabao Cup and he needs regular first team football to continue developing as a player.

£15m would also represent a significant profit on the £2.7m they paid to sign him from Bolton in 2016.

Holding played an important part in last season’s late run of form, and performed very well in the FA Cup final.

It would be a shame to give up on him so soon, but the need to improve the defence is pressing, and he may have to be sacrificed to achieve that.
