Toulouse goalkeeper, Alban Lafont, may have hinted that he wants to sign for Arsenal in the future.

Lafont has been at Toulouse for almost four years and broke into the Ligue 1 side’s first team properly in 2014/15.

While he still has until June 2020 on his current contract with the French side, it seems the 19-year-old might be up for a move to north London in the not-too-distant future.

The France u20 international has been speaking with French outlet SFR Sport and has revealed that he followed Arsenal when he was younger.

“I’ve liked them since I was young – I’d watch the matches of Robin van Persie,” said Lafont.

“I don’t know, we’ll see how it goes. For the immediate future, I would like to save my club [from relegation] and after that, we’ll see later.

“If I’m good I deserve to move up to the next level, but I am not busy with that right now.”

Arsenal are in need of a new goalkeeper.

Petr Cech, with all due respect, is past it and there’s no way David Ospina can realistically be a long-term option.

With this in mind, it might make sense to look at young goalkeepers like Lafont, who could be developed into an Arsenal no.1.

This season, the teenage shot-stopper has kept just 12 clean sheets in 30 appearances, which isn’t the best tally, but Toulouse as a team aren’t doing fantastically right now. They’re currently down in 16th in Ligue 1.

Is Lafont actually hinting that Arsenal sign him?

No one actually knows apart from him. While Arsenal do need a goalkeeper and he probably knows it, most French players have grown up watching Arsene Wenger’s side, so his comments aren’t exactly out of the ordinary.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the youngster over the summer.

Transfermarkt currently value him at €18m, which is around £15.8m. Not bad for a future Arsenal no.1…
