Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc will fly to London on Saturday to finalise negotiations for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal, according to reports.

German outlet WA write that their sources tell them Zorc will travel to the English capital over the weekend for final talks.

They write that the Gunners will need to pay around €60m (£53m) to sign the striker.

Dortmund left Aubameyang out of their match-day squad for Friday’s match against Hertha Berlin and Zorc admitted at the time that the player isn’t 100 percent focused right now.

Then, the director seemed to dash Arsenal’s chances of completing a deal on Thursday. He suggested Arsene Wenger’s comments about the Gabon international in his press conference were disrespectful. Fortunately that doesn’t seem to have slowed negotiations, if WA’s information is correct.

Alexis Sanchez is seemingly on the verge of a move to Manchester United. Alexandre Lacazette is on a goal drought, and Olivier Giroud still hasn’t recovered from injury (and could be shipped out as part of the Auba deal anyway). Arsenal need a new goalscorer in sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, Arsenal won’t complete the deal in time for the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

If negotiations go well though, perhaps the 28-year-old could make his debut in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

We’ll have to wait and see.
