Arsene Wenger feels there’s greater clarity in the squad now that Alexis Sanchez has joined Manchester United.

The Alexis Sanchez saga proved to be a big distraction for everyone involved with Arsenal. The frequent questions about his future grew tiresome, while the squad were reportedly fed up of the uncertainty.

He finally left the club on Monday, and while it’s still early days, his departure seems to have had a liberating effect on the squad. Arsene Wenger certainly feels that there’s greater clarity among the players now.

“Uncertainty [has gone],” he said, as reported by Goal.com. “We lost a great player, but of course it’s true that when the team doesn’t know what’s going on, there’s less clarity and less focus on performances.

“Now we know that we have to deal with that and we can get on by giving everyone a little bit more.”

Everyone at the club surely knew that the Sanchez business would be distracting throughout the season. It makes you wonder whether keeping him in the summer truly was the best decision. It was all sorted eventually, and now everyone can move on.

Any thoughts of there being a hangover were quickly rubbished when we beat Crystal Palace in convincing fashion. Then, on Wednesday night, we came back from a goal down to beat Chelsea and reach the final of the Carabao Cup.

There will inevitably be games where we’ll miss the quality Sanchez had, but right now, there doesn’t seem to be any issue.
