Arsene Wenger feels his side is in a good position in the Carabao Cup semi-final after the 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal managed to keep Chelsea at bay, and came away from Stamford Bridge with a 0-0 draw. The result means that Arsenal just have to win the second leg to progress to the final.

Wenger was content with his team’s performance even though they couldn’t grab an away goal. “I felt that we performed well, it was a very intense game where we were very well organised and had a great solidarity in the team,” the manager told Arsenal Player.

“We are used to scoring of course, so we are a bit frustrated we didn’t score, but overall I think the team performance was very positive and very good.”

The second leg will be played at the Emirates Stadium next Wednesday. The two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw there in the Premier League earlier in the month. Wenger knows Chelsea are a dangerous side, but sees an opportunity for his side to return to Wembley.

“We play at home in [the second leg] in a game we want to win. We have to win to qualify for the final, so let’s do the job .

“Overall I believe that it is of course a good opportunity for us to go to Wembley where we want to go, but we know that Chelsea are a dangerous side, so that is why it is important until then that we win our Premier League games and prepare after.”

Arsenal travel to Bournemouth on Sunday before the second leg. Having played his strongest team on Wednesday night, and picking up yet more injuries, Wenger may have to consider a couple of changes to keep his team fresh.

Jack Wilshere injured his ankle during the game, and joins Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil on the sidelines. Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac and Olivier Giroud are also out.

We have a great chance in the second leg. Fingers crossed we actually have a good team to put out.
