Arsene Wenger has revealed plans to strengthen the Arsenal side in the January transfer window, admitting the club are on the lookout for talent.

Speaking in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, the French coach said Arsenal were looking to do business this month, but added that other clubs could impact on who the Gunners bring in and sell.

Wenger has big decisions to make on the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. The former La Liga duo are both out of contract in the summer, and aren’t any closer to signing a new deal.

Fans will demand replacements for the pair if they are allowed to leave Arsenal mid-season, but bringing in matching quality is often difficult in January.

The Gunners have been linked with Lyon’s Nabil Fekir and Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, but finances are relatively tight, and asking prices for the pair have been astronomical.

Arsenal have bigger issues to worry about right now, as they face defending champions Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday night, with a number of players on the treatment table.

It’s not been the best start to January for Wenger, although the club lining up targets is much more positive news for supporters
