Tottenham’s new stadium might not be ready for next season.

The construction of Spurs’ new toilet-bowl stadium is well and truly underway now.

However, despite the club still insisting their new home will be ready for September, even if they have to play their first three fixtures away, the Daily Mail report it doesn’t look like it will.

They need to carry out two non-full capacity events in order to obtain their license, which will push their schedule back even further if it’s not finished on time.

The 61,000-seater stadium, which was officially announced in 2015, is still without naming rights eight months before it’s due to open its doors.

The projected completion date has already been put back three times and if Tottenham, who are currently playing their home games at Wembley, push it back again, it’s not going to look great.

In contrast, Arsenal only had one major set-back when building the Emirates in 2003.

The move from Highbury was supposed to take place at the beginning of the 2005/06 season but instead happened the following year. However, Arsenal announced the delay in the spring of 2003, not six months before.

Whether the opening of Tottenham’s new stadium will go ahead as planned in September remains to be seen.

Or if they’ve even given it a name by then. My money’s on Toilet Bowl.
