Arsenal are keeping an eye on Stuttgart centre back, Benjamin Pavard, ahead of a potential summer move, according to reports.

Pavard has become the latest young centre back to be linked with the club.

According to TF1, Arsenal are monitoring his progress in Germany ahead of a possible move in the summer.

The 21-year-old joined Stuttgart from Lille in August 2016 and has been a regular member of their first team.

He recently signed a new contract with the Bundesliga club, so a move in January is highly unlikely.

It’s possible that Pavard is yet another recommendation from Sven Mislintat.

Having played in Germany for over a year now, there’s a decent chance Mislintat noticed him.

He also matches the profile of other players scouted by him, such as Mainz’s Abdou Diallo and Wolfsburg’s Ohis Felix Uduokhai.

Konstantinos Mavropanos, who joined the club this month, was another who was recommended by the scout.

Interest in young defenders make sense given Per Mertesacker’s pending retirement and Laurent Koscielny’s age.

However, with Rob Holding and Calum Chambers each only 22, and Mavropanos just arriving, it’s difficult to see how Pavard would fit in.
