Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, claims that Manchester City are set to bid between £13m and £17.5m for Alexis Sanchez this month.

According to Balague, City are ready to bid €15-20m (£13m to £17.5m) for Alexis in January.

The Spanish football expert, who’s usually hit and miss when it comes to Arsenal gossip, claims that there’s every possibility that the Gunners will still say no.

In which case, City will have to decide whether they want to up their bid or not considering the Chilean only has six months left on his current contract.

Pep Guardiola would probably have been quite happy to wait until the end of the season to sign the 29-year-old. After all, City are flying at the top of the Premier League table. Bringing in a (when he wants to be) world class forward on a free would be the cherry on top of a successful season.

However, with Gabriel Jesus ruled out until at least February with a knee injury, City might be forced to move for Alexis sooner.

Arsenal could theoretically use this to their advantage, since they know that City need another forward.

However, we don’t have much leverage considering how little time Alexis has left in north London.

Plus, it seems that the player really wants the move and it is all now about when and how much rather than anything else.
