Former Gunner, Serge Gnabry, has been on loan at Hoffenheim and his stats won’t make comfortable reading for Arsenal fans… especially when compared to Theo Walcott’s.

Gnabry is currently on loan at Hoffenheim after signing for Bayern Munich from Werder Bremen in the summer.

In total, the 22-year-old has only scored twice and assisted once in 12 appearances for the Bundesliga side (all comps.). However, these have all come from just six league starts as he was sidelined for 73 days through injury.

That means he’s contributed to a goal every 155.3 minutes. Not fantastic but not bad considering he’s really struggled to play consistently so far.

If you look at these stats compared to Theo Walcott’s, it’s easy to see why Gooners are so annoyed that their club allowed Gnabry to leave even though the German was impatient for more first team game time and wouldn’t sign a new deal.

Theo has netted four goals and assisted five in 13 appearances over all competitions this season. However, none of these have come in the league, nor have any of his starts.

In fact, the 28-year-old has only played 47 minutes in the Premier League this term.

All of the forward’s contributions have come in the Europa League.

Therefore, it’s probably fair to say that if Gnabry had stayed in north London, we’d already have a Theo replacement lined up.

Gnabry made 18 appearances for Arsenal’s senior team between 2012 and 2014 but only scored once. His time playing under Arsene Wenger was marred by injuries and an unsuccessful loan spell at West Brom.

If only he’d been a little more patient…
