Arsene Wenger claims no one has made contact with Arsenal over Alexis Sanchez, despite Manchester City reportedly being close to a move for the Chilean.

Even though reports claim Alexis is moving to City this month, Wenger insists no contact has been made over the 29-year-old, adding, “I expect nothing. I am focused on tomorrow’s game. When solicitations happen, you respond to it. At the moment, it’s very quiet.”

The Gunners are said to be holding out for £35m from City, despite the Chilean only having six months left on his current contract. This is allegedly more than City thought they would have to pay but considering Gabriel Jesus is sidelined until February, Pep Guardiola needs another forward.

Still, Arsenal are thought to be holding out until they secure Alexis’ replacement.

The Telegraph, who are usually reliable when it comes to Arsenal gossip, reckon that Wenger could be looking to bring in Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir. The Gunners were said to have agreed a £60m deal with the Ligue 1 club back in November, the rumours have since cooled down.

The 24-year-old has scored an impressive 13 goals in 16 league appearances this season so I doubt many Arsenal fans would complain if this is the case. Another option would be Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

If City genuinely haven’t made contact over a move for Alexis yet, what are they waiting for?
