Have you ever had a spare £50m lying around and thought, ‘You know what, I could do with, a new superyacht’?

Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov is the fifth-richest man in Russia. The businessman is said to be worth $16bn. As you can imagine, the 54-year-old has quite a bit of extra cash at his disposal.

As a result, Usmanov is known for his love of superyachts.

The first Dilbar superyacht, which launched by the Dutch in 2005, was snapped up by Usmanov.

It was 66-metres long and had an interior volume – the be all and end all of superyachts – of 1,801 gross tonnage (GT).

To put this into perspective, the biggest cruise ship is almost 227,000 GT.

The Dilbar was an innovative superyacht. It was one of the first to boast its own spa and beach club. It also had a private cinema, private cabins and piano in the salon… as you do.

After three years, Usmanov had his second Dilbar superyacht delivered so he renamed his other one Ona, put it on the brokerage market and sold it for €59.9m in 2010 to US oil mogul, William Kallop.

Usmanov’s second Dilbar was a monster. It sat at 110-metres long, which made it the 17th biggest superyacht in the world.

As well as the other luxuries of the first Dilbar, the second one also boasted a large owner’s office with several meeting areas and a lounge that opened onto the upper deck.

It had a separate, executive conference room with a view onto the sea through floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a gym and spa area.

Just as Dilbar launched their 2016, 156-metre superyacht, Usmanov’s second was renamed Ona and put on the market.

The new ‘megayacht’ has 15,917 GT, 3,800 square metres of living space and a cruising speed of 22.5 knots

Oh to be that rich.
