Fans praised Jack Wilshere for his performance against Chelsea on Wednesday, and demanded Gareth Southgate give the Englishman an international call-up.
Wilshere caught the eye again with his performance in the League Cup semi-final. The 26-year-old moved past players at will, winning free-kicks when Arsenal needed them. He contributed at both ends, putting in some key tackles and helping the team make chances.
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to post about how much Wilshere improves the team, and could improve England’s side as well:
Say what you want but we are a far better team with Jack Wilshere in Midfield as are England.
Player of genuine quality & always has been…— Andy (@yorkshiregunner) January 24, 2018
They weren’t the only ones. This Huddersfield fan thinks Wilshere should be the first midfielder on the plane, barring injuries:
Jack Wilshere’s a brilliant footballer to watch. First midfielder in the England team this summer if he’s fit.

Even Manchester United fans couldn’t help agreeing that Wilshere is showing World Cup form right now:
Wilshere gotta start for England in the World Cup, no question imo

The BBC Match of the Day Twitter account built the hype even more posting a selection of his stats. They even included a few plane emojis, suggesting they think he should be on the flight to Russia:

The Hale End Academy graduate hasn’t played for the national team since the Euro 2016 tournament. At the time, Gareth Southgate said the midfielder wouldn’t get a call up if he wasn’t in the Arsenal team.
Now that Wilshere’s starting regularly for the Gunners, I can’t see any excuse to leave him out. We’ll see what Southgate comes up with.
