Cristian Pavon has opened up about Arsenal’s interest, and says he will talk with his representatives about a move.

Arsenal were reportedly ready to activate Pavon’s release clause earlier this month.

Things didn’t play out as initial reports expected them to, and Arsenal have since worked on acquiring other targets.

That doesn’t mean that Arsenal’s interest in the winger has faded, though.

The player himself seems to think that we still are keen, and was surprisingly open about it.

When asked about the Arsenal rumours, he said (via Ole.com): “You always give your best so that others teams notice you. I said at one point that I was going to stay, but I still don’t know anything.

“I prefer to play and not focus on this game. I’ll sit down and talk with my representatives and family and see what happens.”

The publication also states “The concern did not take long to spread. That the brave 7 of Guillermo’s team has opened the door to the interest of the Arsenal of England, which intends to take him now.”

Pavon has a release clause of around £27m, which is rather cheap in this current market and the Ole report claims Arsenal want him now.

The 22-year-old has been in good form for Boca this season, scoring three and assisting six in 12 appearances.

He has hopes of getting into Argentina’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

It would be surprising, however, if Arsenal were seriously after him this month.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is already due to arrive, while the club’s focus is now turning to signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.

A third attacker arriving this month would be overkill, given the options the club already has.

Discussions on various forums regarding this development seem to think Arsenal will sign him before the World Cup if he is not selected for Argentina or after their elimination should he go to Russia.

That, of course, is all speculation at this point.
