Mesut Ozil is set to stay at Arsenal, at least until the end of the season anyway.

With just six months left on his contract, and Alexis Sanchez currently Manchester United-bound, all eyes are on Ozil.

Although there haven’t been many reports linking him with a move away from north London, it’s not exactly looking as if he’s keen to sign a new deal.

Arsenal fans will be glad to hear that Arsene Wenger has confirmed the German will be staying past January.

This means that the playmaker is either signing a new deal or leaving on a free in June. Hopefully it’s the first option.

Ozil missed Arsenal’s matches against Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Bournemouth but is set to return for Crystal Palace. The 29-year-old has been dealing with a knee problem, which seems to flare up every once in a while.

If Ozil does decide to stay at Arsenal long-term, it’ll be a massive boost. At the moment, everyone (except Wenger) seems to want out, and it would be nice for the midfielder to stick by the club – not that many of us would blame him for wanting to leave.

Hopefully we get answers soon.

Arsenal legend, Alan Smith, is convinced that Ozil is staying.
