Mesut Ozil will renew his contract with the club after being convinced by the signings of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Bild.

After months of uncertainty, Arsenal may come out of a contract situation with some good news.

According to Bild, Ozil will extend his contract at Arsenal until 2021.

They give two reasons for this.

One is that he’s been convinced by the club’s recruitment this month, which has seen Henrikh Mkhitaryan arrive and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang close to arriving as well.

The other is that he’s getting married to girlfriend Amine Gülse in the summer, and both plan to live in London.

Bild report that he will be earning around £307,000 per week, which would make him the highest paid player at the club.

They are not the only ones to report the deal being sorted:

Keeping hold of Ozil beyond this season would be hugely positive news.

The German is the best player we have and has become even more important after Alexis Sanchez left.

There was always hope that Ozil would sign a new contract, given that he seems quite fond of the club.

Now Arsenal have to ensure they get that Aubameyang deal over the line and build a team Ozil can thrive in.
