Former Arsenal forward Wellington Silva has officially joined Internacional.

Silva, who spent six seasons at Arsenal without making a first team appearance, was confirmed as an Inter player by the club’s official site.

He joins them on loan with a view to a permanent move.

The 24-year-old was close to moving to Bordeaux last summer, but failed a medical due to an inflamed pubis.

This time around, he’s successfully passed all medical checks.

Arsenal intended to use a buy-back clause they had in his contract last summer before selling him on for a profit.

However, the plan failed after the move to Bordeaux broke down.

Silva then returned to Fluminese, where he recovered from his injury.

It’s unknown what has become of that buy-back clause, but it seems Arsenal are happy to let their former player move unimpeded.

Silva spent several seasons on loan in Spain due to not having a work permit.

He finally got one in 2015, and spent the season on loan in the Championship with Bolton.

Following that, Arsenal let him return to Fluminese, where he found form again.

He’ll be continuing his career in Brazil for the foreseeable future.
