Arsenal will recall Kelechi Nwakali from his loan at VVV Venlo as Porto are interested, according to his brother.

Nwakali is on loan at Eredivisie club VVV Venlo for the season, but might not be there for much longer.

According to All Nigeria Soccer, Arsenal could recall the midfielder as he’s not receiving as many first team appearances as they would like.

They carry quotes from his brother, Allwell Nwalaki, explaining the situation.

“Arsenal decided to bring him out from VVV Venlo because the coach was busy playing the players that came from relegation with him leaving players like Kelechi and some other loan players on the bench,” he said.

”There’s a Real Madrid player (Mink Peeters) that is about to leave the way Kelechi is leaving.

”Arsenal never wanted him to be on the bench because they have their plans for him.”

Porto are said to be interested in taking the Nigerian on loan with a view to a permanent transfer.

Arsenal, though, apparently have future plans for him and only want a loan deal.

”FC Porto of Portugal are interested and even wanted an option to buy but they are discussing with Arsenal now. Arsenal are not interested for such opinion because they need Kelechi soon in the main team,” Allwell Nwakali added.

The 19-year-old has made 12 appearances for VVV Venlo this season, but has only played 480 minutes.

It hasn’t quite been the season of progress he would have wanted after an excellent loan at MVV Maastricht last season.

Nwakali has to spend time out on loan as he doesn’t have a work permit to play in England.

If Porto are willing to give him regular game time, sending him there would be the obvious choice.

If not, it would be worth Arsenal’s time to send him to a club who would be more willing to play him.
