Arsenal youngster Marcus McGuane is completing a medical in Barcelona ahead of his move to the club. He’ll join up with their second team, Barcelona B.

In the last day, rumours built that McGuane could be on his way to the La Liga leaders.

Kike Marin announced that the player was preparing for a move. Now, Spanish football expert Aviv Shoshan has tweeted a picture of the 18-year-old in a Barcelona kit completing his medical:

McGuane had less than six months left on his Arsenal contract, and didn’t look likely to renew. The problem was that the Gunners couldn’t offer him a clear route into the first team.

This season, many youth players made their senior debuts, and the defensive midfielder was one of them. He only played 12 minutes in total though, not enough to make an impression.

Recently, he hasn’t played regularly for the u23s either. After appearing in their first seven matches of the season, he only started two of the next eight. It all pointed towards an early exit, and now that’s exactly what appears to be happening.

It’s a shame for the club to lose such a talented player, especially one that Barcelona want. After 60 appearances for the Arsenal u18s and up, McGuane will now hope to reach the next level in Spain.
