Charlton Athletic have officially signed Stephy Mavididi back on loan until the end of the season.

Madividi went out on loan to Charlton a year ago but a season-ending hamstring injury, which required surgery, meant that his spell with the Addicks was cut short. However, now the 19-year-old is fit, he’s rejoined the League One side until the end of the campaign.

As we previously reported, Charlton boss Karl Robinson continued to sing Mavididi’s praises even after the striker had left and it’s of little surprised that the club has asked for him back now that he’s returned from his injury.

“I’m looking forward to coming back and enjoying my football again,” he told the club’s website. “I want to pick up where I left off at Charlton and help the club to achieve promotion.

“I really enjoyed my time here last season and, for any young player moving club, it is always easier when you go somewhere that you know people and I hope that I can settle back in straight away.”

The England u20 international was previously on loan at Preston North End this season. However, after making just 10 Championship appearances this season, Arsenal have obviously decided that Charlton would be a far better fit.

Last season, Mavididi only got the chance to make five appearances for the Addicks. However, Robinson obviously sees something in the young striker and wants to help him develop.

It’s good to see the lad feeling optimistic and working towards his future. He’s far more likely to get something out of this loan spell than his entire time at Preston because Robinson actually seems to believe in his ability.

Good luck to him.
