Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain has reportedly been in talks with Arsenal at the weekend over a move for Alexis Sanchez.

According to Goal, Alexis and City are confident that a move can go ahead well before the end of the transfer window after holding talks on Friday and Sunday.

City are reportedly willing to pay £25m for the Chilean, who has six months left on his Arsenal contract, but the Gunners are apparently holding out for £35m.

Arsenal could decide to put off any deal until the end of January, like they allegedly did during the summer.

The 29-year-old would still be available to play in the Champions League for City, as well as the FA Cup, as he’s only featured in the Europa League for Arsenal this season, and wasn’t included in Arsene Wenger’s FA Cup squad that lost 4-2 to Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

Alexis is said to be really eager for the move to go ahead, which I’m not really surprised about. The bloke may have scored eight goals this season but he’s looked as if he’d rather be anywhere else in the world than playing for Arsenal. In fact, the only game he performed well in was against Crystal Palace and that’s probably because he knew Pep Guardiola was watching in preparation for City’s next Premier League clash.

If this deal is going ahead, can we get it wrapped up quickly please so we can all move on?
