Stephy Mavididi scored his first goal in senior football, while Emi Martinez made his first league start of the season – an encouraging weekend for Arsenal’s loanees.

Arsenal recently recalled Mavididi from his loan at Preston North End, and sent him out to Charlton. The 19-year-old only made four starts in over half a season at Deepdale.

Fortunately, Addicks boss Karl Robinson seems to have more faith in the striker. The two spent time together in last season’s loan spell, which was cut short by injury.

The manager started his new signing in Saturday’s League One match against Oldham Athletic. Mavididi duly rewarded Robinson’s faith, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win. It was the Arsenal academy boy’s first senior goal, and an impressive one at that:

Meanwhile, Emi Martinez made his La Liga debut for Getafe against Atletico Madrid. He was thrown into the deep end, facing Atletico’s returnee Diego Costa. Unfortunately, he couldn’t keep a clean sheet, and the match ended 2-0, but at least he’s finally getting some experience.

Takuma Asano started in a friendly against Twente, which Stuttgart won 2-1. Asano played 63 minutes.

Kelechi Nwakali also featured in a friendly, coming on for 16 minutes at the end of VVV-Venlo’s 4-0 win over De Graafschap.

Finally, Lucas Perez missed out on Deportivo’s 1-1 draw with Villarreal through illness.
