Stephy Mavididi missed his penalty during Charlton Athletic’s shoot-out against Oxford United in the EFL Trophy, while Takuma Asano featured in a friendly for Stuttgart.

Mavididi’s second appearance for the Addicks didn’t go half as well as his first, which saw him score Charlton’s only goal and win them all three points.

The 19-year-old came on for the final 26 minutes against Oxford. The 1-1 match went to penalties, but the striker missed his and Charlton lost the game 3-0.

Mavididi is on his second loan spell with the Addicks after joining them last January where he unfortunately suffered a season-ending hamstring injury, forcing him to return to north London.

The teenager was on loan at Preston North End for the first half of this season, but after making just 10 Championship appearances, few of which were starts, he was sent back out to Charlton.

Although Mavididi will be disappointed that he missed his penalty, he wasn’t the only one, so hopefully his confidence doesn’t take too much of a hit. Charlton face Bury on Saturday. Hopefully the striker has a chance to make a positive impact for his loan side in League One.

Takuma Asano’s Stuttgart side won a club friendly against KV Oostende on Monday, but since it wasn’t a competitive match there’s limited information available regarding who featured and who scored.
