The Arsenal players put in another abject display away from home as they went down 3-1 to Swansea.

Arsenal have won just three times on the road in the Premier League this season and after Tuesday’s performance, you can see why.

The players took to the drenched Liberty Stadium with zero enthusiasm and were outplayed by a Swansea side desperate for points.

Nacho Monreal gave us the lead against the run of play, but a brace from Sam Clucas and a goal from Jordan Ayew gave Swansea the win.

I’m sure you can guess how we thought the players got on…

1. Petr Cech 2

Cech has now committed four errors that have directly led to a goal in the Premier League this season. That’s more than any other player.

He arrived with such a big reputation but is starting to look as reliable as David Ospina between the posts.

It was a collection of errors that led to his comical mis-kick which handed Swansea the initiative. He was shaky after that, flapping at corners and nervous in possession.

2. Laurent Koscielny 5

There are times where the Frenchman has to keep the defence together all by himself. Koscielny did his best to curb Swansea’s attacks but need more help than he received.

3. Shkodran Mustafi 5

Won four of his six tackles and six aerial duels during the match. He was certainly kept busy by Ayew and had a difficult time keeping him quiet. Like Koscielny, he received no help from his midfield. He may consider himself unfortunate that his late recovery tackle on Ayew set-up Clucas for Swansea’s third of the night.

4. Hector Bellerin 4

A forgettable game for the right back. He had the right flank to himself all game, but found space hard to come by. He came into the game more in the second half, but couldn’t produce the quality final pass that was needed.

5. Nacho Monreal 5

Monreal took his goal like a confident striker. In fact, no Arsenal player is more confident in front of goal than he is at the moment. Yet, points have to be deducted for his part in Swansea’s second goal. The decision to allow the ball roll out for a throw-in under no pressure put his team on the back foot, and was the first in a string of needless errors.

6. Mohamed Elneny 6

Elneny really did save us in the first half. He came up with a number of last-ditch interventions to prevent Swansea from taking the lead in the game. In the end, he simply had too much to do. Was sacrificed early in the second half for Mkhitaryan.

7. Granit Xhaka 3

Xhaka calls himself a “false 10”, and you can see why. He just does not have the concentration to play in a defensive role. Having initially plugged the gap created by Bellerin, he stood there as Clucas ran in front of him, in behind the defence and scored. His decision not to track the run was typical of his night. He had the freedom to venture forward, but put in no effort to get back and defend.

8. Aaron Ramsey 5

We’ve missed Ramsey’s dynamism but it was wasted against Swansea. A goal-saving tackle in the first half was the highlight of his performance, as he otherwise struggled to get involved and couldn’t receive the ball in advance areas.

9. Mesut Ozil 7

Every time he got the ball, he tried to accelerate Arsenal’s play. His assist for Monreal’s opener was exceptional. Unfortunately, his teammates didn’t lend him enough support. He also lost the ball cheaply in the build-up to Swansea’s equaliser.

10. Alex Iwobi 4

Managed two of Arsenal’s nine shots on the night, but was barely a threat to Swansea’s defence. Only Alexandre Lacazette managed fewer touches than him on the night as Arsenal had a tough time getting him on the ball.

11. Alexandre Lacazette 4

A goal against Palace and a hard-working display against Chelsea suggested he was finding some form, but he was listless against Swansea. Completely without service, he looked slow and frustrated. It was the performance of a man who perhaps knows he’s going to be replaced in the starting eleven soon.

12. Henrikh Mkhitaryan 6

Came on as a second half sub and was positive on the ball. He played a handful of nice forward passes, was willing to carry the ball forward and flashed one excellent ball across goal that should have been turned in by someone. He’ll have wanted to make his debut in better circumstances, but he showed what he can bring to the side.

13. Olivier Giroud 5

In what could be his final game for the club, he struggled to get involved. Arsenal tried to find him with crosses, but the service just wasn’t good enough. He was unable to save us this time.
