Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas will miss the second leg of the League Cup semi-final against the Gunners on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte confirmed the news in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday. He explained that the Spanish dup would definitely miss the match, while adding that a couple of other players are doubts.

Hopefully, that’s good news for Arsenal. Playing against former players always brings an added dimension, and Fabregas scored against the Gunners around this time last year. Fortunately he can’t repeat the trick on this occasion.

Morata hasn’t played very well at all in the clashes between the two so far. He still hasn’t scored a goal, and even missed a penalty in the Community Shield in August. A top striker like him is sure to get it right eventually though, so it’s good to know that won’t be on Wednesday.

In all competitions, Morata has 12 goals and four assists in 31 appearances this season. That’s nowhere near the best record in England, but for a first campaign in the country it’s not bad.

Instead, Chelsea will probably start Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian started and assisted in the Blues’ match at the weekend. Like Arsenal, Conte’s side scored four goals, so both teams clearly have attacking firepower.

We’ll have to wait and see which team clicks on the day.
