Riyad Mahrez is expected to undergo a medical with Liverpool today ahead of a €55m move according to beIN SPORTS.

Late on Saturday evening, beIN SPORTS, published a short article which stated, “According to our information, Liverpool is in the process of hiring the services of Algerian international Riyad Mahrez.

“The midfielder of Leicester is expected Sunday for the medical visit.

“The player from Leicester will commit for the next four seasons, until June 2022. Amount of the operation: 55 million euros!”

Sky Sports reported, however, that Liverpool are NOT interested in Mahrez despite this report from France and that no approach has been made. It is claimed that Jurgen Klopp is still interested in signing Thomas Lemar.

Guillem Balague also stated that it is ‘totally false’ that Liverpool want Mahrez.

Earlier this week France Football claimed Mahrez is happy with all options open to him. He would like a move to a top Premier League club, or a top club in a different country.

However, he would also stay at Leicester until the end of the season, if necessary.

From Leicester’s point of view, they will let him go, but only if a team meets their valuation.

The Algerian is certainly making a great case for someone to sign him with his performances recently.

In the last 15 league games, Mahrez has only failed to score or assist on three occasions.

This season, he has goal contributions against Arsenal, Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool, among others. That kind of form is reminiscent of the showings that put him on the map in Leicester’s 2015/16 title-winning season.

Football.London say Wenger is an admirer of the 26-year-old, but he isn’t top of the manager’s list of targets.

That’s roughly what the boss said in August, when he admitted he rates Mahrez as a player, but already has similar players in the current squad.
