In his press conference ahead of the Nottingham Forest FA Cup tie, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Granit Xhaka has become the latest Arsenal player to pick up an injury.

Sead Kolasinac, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey were all already unavailable for the weekend’s game and now Xhaka will miss out as well.

Wenger revealed that the midfielder picked up the problem against Chelsea. The Swiss midfielder finished the match with a tight groin, when Arsenal had already made all three substitutions.

The boss also confirmed that he’ll rotate his squad for the match, remaining consistent with his team selections so far this season.

The Gunners have generally played one team in the league and another in the cups.

Given how many league matches Arsenal have played in quick succession, many players need a rest right now.

Considering Wenger faces lower league opposition in Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, this is the perfect opportunity to give them one.

Even though they’re still fit and available, I wouldn’t expect to see Petr Cech, Jack Wilshere, Alexandre Lacazette or Alexis Sanchez on Sunday either.
