Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on a summer move for Watford winger Richarlison, who is reportedly keen on making the step up, but the player isn’t going anywhere in January window.

The Watford Observer claim they contacted sources close to the 20-year-old about interest from the two clubs. Those sources revealed Richarlison would like a move in the summer, and he’s already thinking about a transfer. There hasn’t been any formal contact from either team yet, however.

The Brazilian made a fantastic start to life in England this season. In his first 17 league matches, he scored five goals and assisted five. Since then, he’s been on a bit of a dry spell. It’s now six league games since the winger contributed to a goal.

That’s expected of a player moving to a new league though. Especially one who is still young enough to play for an academy side. I doubt a few games without a goal or assist will put the top clubs off. The sooner he starts up again, the better, of course.

Watford’s form as a team has been pretty awful recently, which probably makes the youngster want to leave even more. It’s now just one league win in 10 matches. I doubt they’ll want to let go of a key player when they’re doing so poorly, so the summer timelines makes most sense.

We’ll see how things pan out.
