Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal are still busy in the transfer window, saying the Gunners are open to strengthening their squad in the remaining days.

Wenger has once again said that if the opportunity to strengthen his squad arises, he’ll take it. As long as Arsenal can afford it, that is.

“We can buy players, we are busy on all fronts. Overall I think we are open-minded. Every opportunity we have to strengthen our squad we will take,” said Wenger ahead of the Gunners’ League Cup semi-final match against Chelsea.

At the moment, Arsenal are reportedly locked in transfer negotiations over Borussia Dortmund striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

A delegation of Ivan Gazidis, Sven Mislintat and Huss Fahmy were pictured at Dortmund airport over the weekend, along with what appeared to be the 28-year-old’s car.

The Gunners allegedly offered £46m, which was promptly rejected, before putting in an improved second bid. The Bundesliga club are said to be looking for £55m, although Bild say they want closer to £61m.

Contrary to reports that Aubameyang’s move will be completed within the next couple of days, Wenger claims the deal isn’t close. Although, we know we should usually take the Frenchman’s words with a pinch of salt when it comes to transfers.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fans are celebrating the signing of Manchester United playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The 29-year-old came to the Gunners as part of a straight swap for Alexis Sanchez.

The Armenian will hopefully slot in nicely at Arsenal and will be an important bit of business.
