Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund sooner rather than later, according to WAZ.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Aubameyang could have a happy ending.

In their analysis of the potential transfer, German publication WAZ say that there’s very little chance of the striker remaining in Germany.

They first point to Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke going public on the deal.

Watzke admitted that Ivan Gazidis had been in contact with him after reports emerged about Arsenal’s first bid.

WAZ believe this was done to increase the pressure on Arsenal and ensure that a deal is done quickly.

Although Arsenal’s first bid was rejected, WAZ expects a fee to be agreed.

Arsenal are being driven by their need to replace Alexis Sanchez, while Dortmund are looking to sell a player who has been causing trouble for them.

They go on to note that Dortmund are in a very difficult situation.

They’ve suspended Aubameyang numerous times due to his behaviour, but are aware that the more he doesn’t play, the lower his value drops.

In addition, they will still have to pay his wages.

It all sounds very positive for Arsenal.

All they have to do now is agree a suitable fee with Dortmund.
