Borussia Dortmund are looking for a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while Real Madrid have no plans to move for the striker, according to reports.

Aubameyang is a target for Arsenal this month, and while a move isn’t close to happening, they may have received some good news.

According to Calciomercato, Dortmund are looking for replacements, and have identified one in Sampdoria’s Duvan Zapata.

They report that while no formal offer has been made yet, they have made contact and are ready to make a move if and when Aubameyang leaves.

The sale of the Gabon striker will be a lot smoother if Dortmund have their replacement ready to come in.

Another potential obstacle to the deal has also been cleared.

Real Madrid, who have been linked with the 28-year-old for some time, are not interested in signing him.

That’s according to Fichajes, who report that Madrid have no plans to move for the striker any time soon.

That would give Arsenal a free run at a player who is believed to want to end up at Madrid before he calls time on his career.

The deal now looks rather straight forward for the clubs involved.

All that’s left now is the small matter of actually getting it done which, as we know, is never straightforward when Arsenal are involved.
