The Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deal is edging closer to completion as Borussia Dortmund have found their replacement.

The big news on Sunday night was that the two clubs were close to agreeing a fee.

While that was good news, there were still some details to sort out, including one significant hurdle left to overcome: Dortmund signing a replacement.

However, it seems like Dortmund have now found that replacement.

According to Sport Bild, Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi will join Dortmund on loan for the rest of the season.

Their original target was Olivier Giroud, but he’s keen to stay in London.

With Batshuayi headed to Dortmund, and Aubameyang to Arsenal, we could now see Giroud end up at Chelsea.

Chelsea have been searching for a target man all window and will certainly need to replace their only back-up striker.

The move would suit Giroud as well, as he wishes to remain in London for “family reasons”.

Provided Arsenal allow the move, he could end up in the blue of Chelsea, which would be incredibly weird.

It looks like all the pieces are in place for the move to happen, and things should be sorted out soon.
