Arsenal are still talking with Mesut Ozil over a new contract, as hope remains that he could yet extend his stay at the club.

Ozil is out of contract in the summer but there’s some optimism that a deal could be done.

According to the Telegraph, Arsenal remain in a dialogue with Ozil about a new deal despite a year-long stand-off.

They report that there is still hope an agreement can be reached.

Talk of Ozil leaving the club in January has calmed down while his form has improved.

He recently said he was proud to play for Arsenal, and has been showing that in his performances, almost playing like a man who has finally come to a decision about his future.

Before then, there were reports of talks being resumed in December, though an agreement had yet to be reached.

Progress remains slow, but it does seem like the two sides are talking with each other properly now, which is an improvement over last season.

We can only hope that more progress is made in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Ozil will hopefully continue his good form on the pitch and help Arsenal get closer to the Champions League places.
