Burnley remain interested in signing Rob Holding on loan, but Arsenal want to keep him for the rest of the season.

According to Gary Jacob of the Times, Burnley had made a new approach for the centre-back.

Holding had been linked with a move to Burnley should Arsenal sign a central defender by the end of the window.

The move would certainly make sense.

He’d get to do plenty of defending at Burnley and play valuable first team minutes that he’s not getting at Arsenal.

His form has suffered this season due to a lack of consistent game time.

With Arsenal out of the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup and Europa League more important than ever, he’s not going to get too many opportunities from now on.

Even if someone gets injured, we still have Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker and Nacho Monreal as options.

On the other hand, Arsenal might want to keep him around to give them the option of using a back three or in case of an injury crisis.
