Arsenal have made their opening offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal are interested in signing Aubameyang this month, and have now made their first move.

According to Kicker, the club have offered around £46m for the striker. This has been confirmed by the club’s CEO.

The offer is likely to be rejected, as Dortmund are said to be looking for at least £53m.

Borussia Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has also confirmed that they’ve received an offer.

“I can confirm Arsenal have made an enquiry, the figure has been named in England and we won’t comment,” he told Ruhr Nachrichten.

In true Arsenal fashion, it seems they’ve offered an amount that’s below the frequently-reported asking price, however opening bids are rarely what the selling club are looking for.

The need to bring in a top player and the short amount of time to do it evidently hasn’t prevented the club from trying to get the fee down.

They may feel that Dortmund could lower their price, given Aubameyang’s situation.

The 28-year-old was left out their matchday squad for the 1-1 draw with Hertha Berlin on Friday night.

He seems to be pushing to leave the club

With the two clubs not too far apart, negotiations are likely to continue.
