Bordeaux forward Malcom will not be leaving during the January transfer window, according to their club president, meaning Manchester United might not be getting Alexis Sanchez just yet.

Malcom was supposedly on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal, but Bordeaux’s president has poured cold water on the move. Nicolas de Tavernost told L’Equipe: “Malcom will not be leaving.”

There was a lot of noise over the weekend about the Brazilian winger. Reports from Brazil claimed the deal was close to completion, with Arsenal agreeing to pay £44m for the 20-year-old. Malcom’s agent was reportedly in England to finalise a move.

Reports from France aren’t as optimistic. SFR Sport are reporting that there’s been no progress in the transfer since last Friday. Bordeaux are not interested in selling this month, and Arsenal are not willing to loan him back for the remainder of the season.

Sud Ouest also report that there’s no agreement with Arsenal and Bordeaux. If the Gunners can’t get the Malcom deal over the line, it could mean Alexis Sanchez stays for the rest of the season – bad news for Manchester United.

The Chilean is close to joining Jose Mourinho’s side, but the Red Devils may have to wait if Arsenal cannot get a replacement in January. Arsene Wenger will be desperate to keep the ex-Barcelona man unless they find somebody who fill his shoes.
