Besiktas sent officials to meet with Danny Welbeck’s agent, as they hope to agree a transfer with Arsenal in January.

Turkish-Football report that Welbeck is on a shortlist of potential replacements Besiktas drew up after Cenk Tosun’s departure.

They reportedly sent a delegation to London last week, and held talks with the Englishman’s representatives.

The report writes that the 27-year-old “has struggled for playing time at Arsenal,” but that’s not really the Gunners’ fault. Welbeck has appeared in every single game this season when fit, apart from Spurs at home and Crystal Palace away.

He just struggled with a couple of injuries, as usual.

Plus, he hasn’t scored in any of his last nine substitute appearances in the league so the striker isn’t really justifying starts at the moment.

On the other hand, I don’t think Arsene Wenger wants to let yet another homegrown player go in the same window as Coquelin and, possibly, Walcott.

As a side point, Besiktas have a game against Bayern Munich coming up in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

If Welbeck does end up moving, the Germans could get their yearly dose of knocking out Arsenal players. We all know how tough it must be for them to see the Gunners in the Europa League this year.

All very unlikely.
