According to BBC reporter, Gary Al-Smith, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is joining Arsenal because he wants to fulfil his dream of playing for Real Madrid.

Al-Smith believes that Aubameyang is moving to Arsenal, where he will reportedly earn just over £3m-per-year in wages, because he wants to join Real Madrid in the near future.

The 28-year-old allegedly dreams of joining the La Liga giants and, if he signs for Arsenal, this will apparently be a stepping stone.

Arsene Wenger is said to have reassured the striker that Arsenal will rebuild with world class reinforcements in the summer, with Di Marzio claiming that while the contract is for three-and-a-half years but there’s an option to extend it by one year.

Considering how low Aubameyang’s wages are meant to be – around £56k-per-week – this does make me think that perhaps Arsenal have promised him something.

Perhaps, they’ve agreed that they’ll sell him to Los Blancos if they come a-knocking.

Perhaps the striker is just that relieved to be leaving the German club.

Dortmund are reportedly asking for just €60m – or around £55m. This seems remarkably cheap for a 28-year-old striker that’s scored 21 goals in 23 appearances this season.

Whether the Gabon international wants to sign for Real Madrid one day or not, as long as we can have him for a couple of good years before he does, I’m not bothered.
