Arsenal have arguably had some of the best footballers to ever don a football shirt, but who would you pick as the ultimate Arsenal starting XI?

With some of the greatest strikers to ever grace the football field, along with wingers and midfielders who’d have been able to walk straight into anyone’s first team, we struggled. But, we’ve managed to put down who we think should be included below. What do you think?

David Seaman

A legendary goalkeeper who was always full of energy and oozed motivation from between the posts.

Not only that, his all-round keeper skills often kept Arsenal in games and frustrated many an opposition striker. Hence his self-proclaimed nickname ’Safe Hands’, which was quickly adopted by many of his supporters.

Midfield

Patrick Vieira

The original archetype of what would become the modern midfielder, throughout the 90s. An energetic, as well as strong player, Vieira relished challenges, mental as well as the physical on-field clashes.

Liam Brady

An original and extremely talented playmaker who wooed fans across the country almost every weekend. His talent knew no bounds and he would terrorise defences week in and week out.

He didn’t build up a great collection of winning medals but shone with extravagant goals in matches that mattered.

Alex James

Many claim Alex to be the first true Arsenal icon.

He became paramount in feeding the attackers from the back. He joined the Arsenal in the 20’s and didn’t take too long to establish himself as pivotal to what became their successes in the 20s and through into the 1930’s.
