Arsenal’s four attacking options all appear to underperform against Chelsea and it’s concerning.

Between them, Olivier Giroud (1), Danny Welbeck (1), Alexis Sanchez (2) and Alexandre Lacazette (0) have only managed to score four goals against Chelsea. And that’s not just for Arsenal, that’s for any team they’ve played for.

While Giroud is sidelined with a hamstring injury for the upcoming clash at the Emirates and Lacazette has only been in the Premier League six months, it’s concerning that Arsenal’s attacking options are consistently so poor in this fixture.

Why are Arsenal’s forwards so ineffective against the Blues? Giroud has been at the club for five-and-a-half years and considering how prolific he’s been known to be, it shows how one-dimensional he can be if a top team knows how to nullify him.

Alexis has faced Chelsea 10 times, including twice during his period at Barcelona. Yet he’s only scored twice.

Now, the Chilean is a completely different type of player to Giroud and has played for different teams under different coaches, yet still failed to score. What’s the deal there?

Danny Welbeck, meanwhile, has faced Chelsea 13 times during his career at Manchester United and at Arsenal. Yet he’s only found the back of the net once.

Is it a mental block? Or have Chelsea just consistently got their tactics on-point against Arsenal?
