Arsenal’s u18s triumphed over Aston Villa courtesy of a couple of penalties from Trae Coyle, in Saturday’s u18 Premier League match up.

The match was the young Gunners’ first in almost a month.

Their last league outing was a 3-0 win over Swansea on the 9th December.

They also beat Sheffield Wednesday in the third round of the FA Youth Cup on the 13th December. Since then, they’ve had a winter break and needed to refocus and keep the winning run going.

The team took a while to get going, and couldn’t make a breakthrough in the first half. But at the same time, Villa didn’t really pose a threat, so the young side were comfortable.

In the second half, Arsenal took advantage of their dominance soon after the restart. Trae Coyle converted a penalty in the 49th minute, to give them the lead.

He then scored another 10 minutes later, for his third goal in four games since his return from injury in November.

Mark McGuinness, another who started the season injured, came on late in the match for his first appearance of the campaign.

Arsenal had 17 shots in the end, to Villa’s two. The pair of penalties were the only goals, and the match ended 2-0.
