Arsenal are looking to replace Alexis Sanchez with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, should the Chilean international leave the club this month or next summer.

Arsenal are in the process of drawing up a shortlist of replacements for Alexis Sanchez, and have Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang near the top.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report that Manchester City could make a move for Alexis in January after Gabriel Jesus’ injury.

Aubameyang is one of those names you see often linked with the club. He’s an excellent striker, but one who has been recently disciplined by Dortmund.

The £58m striker’s future with the Bundesliga side has been in doubt for some time, but nobody has offered a satisfactory offer just yet.

If Arsenal didn’t know him well before, they certainly should now that Sven Mislintat is at the club. It was Mislintat who scouted Aubameyang while he was playing for St. Etienne.

However, Arsenal do already have Alexandre Lacazette as their striker. While Aubameyang would certainly replace Alexis’ goals, he wouldn’t provide the same creativity. In addition, he may not have many years left in his prime.

The Gabon centre-forward could be an interesting target if Arsene Wenger planned on playing two strikers together more often. Given what Arsenal would need post-Alexis, though, there are more suitable players out there.
